About Us
At Beyond Blooms, our goal is to blend your ideas with our expertise to create beautiful gardens that function for people and nature.
As a fully insured, small garden design company, we pride ourselves on delivering personalized, professional service. We love gardens — and we treat every project with the same care and attention we would our own.
By combining ecological principles with contemporary garden design, we'll help add more life to your landscape, and more beauty, through the thoughtful use of colour, texture, and year-round interest. Our designs emphasize the use of native plants, which act as the foundation of local food webs.
We believe meaningful change doesn’t always require sweeping global action. Small, intentional steps in our own communities can have a powerful impact — and that change can begin right in your backyard. Let us help you get started.
Proudly serving Oakville, Burlington, Mississauga, and Milton.

Meet Melanie
Founder & Landscape Designer
Hi 👋 I’m Melanie — a lifelong “nature nerd,” certified Landscape Designer, and passionate advocate for backyard biodiversity.
I hold a Bachelor of Environmental Biology and a Certificate in Landscape Design from the University of Guelph. Over two decades I served in senior roles with the non-profit organizations Evergreen and Oakvillegreen, directing and supporting community greening and environmental stewardship initiatives. This was where I witnessed firsthand the power of connecting people and communities with nature.
When the pandemic hit, I began adding native plants to my own suburban Oakville backyard. What started as a few small changes evolved into a thriving restoration project. Our garden became a haven for nesting and migrating birds, a rainbow of butterflies, bees, and moths, and even unexpected visitors like a screech owl, mink, and fox. That experience sparked my interest and training in ecological landscape design, and deepened my belief that “if you plant it, they will come.”
I’m especially passionate about the relationships between plants and pollinators, thoughtfully matching host species to ensure gardens truly support pollinators. I grow many native plants from seed and trial them in my own garden — always observing, learning, and refining what works.
Today, I help clients create beautiful, ecologically grounded gardens that invite connection, curiosity, and life, right outside their back door.
